Forza Horizon 4's Delisting and More Game Pass Titles Vanishing in Decembe

November brought some major titles to Xbox Game Pass, including Stalker 2, Flight Simulator 2024, and Aliens: Dark Descent. However, December brings a bittersweet twist, as some beloved games are leaving the service, and one of them—Forza Horizon 4—is facing a painful delisting from online stores.
Over the next couple of weeks, Game Pass subscribers will lose access to seven games, and it’s not just filler. Among those leaving are some heavy hitters. Rise of the Tomb Raider, the standout middle chapter of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, The Quarry, the interactive horror game from Supermassive Games, and Rainbow Billy, a charming puzzle-platformer, are all part of the exodus. Additionally, Tin Hearts, Forager, and the haunting first-person thriller Amnesia: The Bunker will also be leaving.
For many, Amnesia: The Bunker is a particularly painful loss, especially if you’ve recently rearranged your Xbox Series S storage to finally get it installed. With its suspenseful atmosphere and survival-horror gameplay, it was one of the most highly anticipated titles for horror fans—and now, it’s disappearing from Game Pass.
The situation with Forza Horizon 4 is a whole lot worse, though, and it has nothing to do with Game Pass. On December 15, as we first learned back in June, Forza Horizon 4 will be completely delisted from all online stores, and it’s all due to licensing issues.
Released in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 quickly became one of the most beloved open-world racing games ever, receiving a Metascore of 92 and still maintaining a dedicated player base. Set in a fictionalized version of the English Cotswolds, the game impressed players with its beautiful environment, thrilling races, and exceptional car collection. However, it seems the game’s vast licensing agreements, particularly for the real-world cars it features, were only meant to last for a certain period. With the game’s initial release in 2018, it’s believed that the licensing contracts were set to expire around 2024—meaning Forza Horizon 4 will soon be off the shelves.
While the delisting is frustrating, there’s some good news for those who already own Forza Horizon 4. You’ll still be able to play it offline and online (though online features could be phased out over time). Unfortunately, all downloadable content (DLC) for the game was removed earlier in the year, but if you bought any DLC while the game was available on Game Pass, you’ve received tokens to unlock it in the purchased version. These tokens will remain valid until June 2026—so don’t forget to redeem them before they expire.
In any case, it’s another reminder that while Game Pass offers great value, it also comes with the risk of losing access to titles you love, especially when licensing and contracts come into play.
